Tim’s role in the Biodiversity Informatics programme is to work with colleagues and external partners to help design and develop cutting edge biodiversity informatics products.
Tim has over 10 years experience working with web technologies over a range of business sectors dealing with all aspects of the projects from developing the brief and managing the client through to design, build and launch. Tim is a keen advocate of Agile project management, and with the rest of the team enjoys continually exploring better ways of running software development projects. Tim’s background is in graphic design and he has a strong interest in usability and creating great products that people love to use.
Product manager for the development of this web based Geographic Information System tool to measure the blue carbon habitats of Abu Dhabi. Users can define habitat regions geospatially and assign attributes such as age, density and condition. Edits are layered in a PostgreSQL database allowing administrators to delete or amend changes to the master dataset.
Product manager and UX designer for an iPad field tool to compliment the web application. Users can locate their position in the field and geospatially plot the extent of the surrounding habitat, as well as assign attributes such as age, density and condition. Edits can be made offline and synchronized with the master data-set when a data connection is next available.
