Katie brings her experience of ecology and working in the commercial sector to UNEP-WCMC’s Business and Biodiversity Programme. Her role involves synthesising technical and scientific information into accessible briefing notes and liaising with internal and external project partners. She also provides input into marketing materials, workshop organisation and developing new proposals.
Katie joined UNEP-WCMC from the commercial sector in September 2017. Prior to this, she was a Principal Ecologist working as a consultant to the UK construction industry. A key part of her role was working with stakeholders to identify and manage ecological risks and opportunities relating to development and infrastructure projects. Katie graduated from Imperial College London with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Environmental Science before gaining an M.Sc. in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management from the University of Oxford.
Katie provides support for the Proteus partnership, a unique collaboration between UNEP-WCMC and leading extractive companies to disseminate biodiversity data and information for use in decision-making.
Katie is currently working on a project to support the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Secretariat in identifying and engaging relevant stakeholders, experts and industry partners to input into the CBD process on mainstreaming biodiversity into the energy and mining sectors.
