Dervla’s role in the Development and Communications Team is to support the Centre’s communication and fund-raising efforts, primarily by supporting the Head of External Affairs who leads on external engagement. Dervla provides assistance to the team to ensure the development and implementation of the Centre’s communications, marketing and fundraising strategies.
After completing a BSc in Zoology from Cardiff University and an MSc in Primate Conservation from Oxford Brookes University, Dervla worked for nine years with the Wild Chimpanzee Foundation in West Africa. She led projects which supported the creation and management of protected areas that covered critical habitat of West Africa’s threatened wildlife, most notably the Taï-Grebo-Sapo Forest complex. Prior to joining UNEP-WCMC in 2018, she contributed to the creation of Liberia’s newest protected area, the Grebo-Krahn National Park.
